Putin condemns Ukraine’s leadership for employing terrorism to undermine peace negotiations
(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin has condemned Ukraine’s leadership for employing terrorism to undermine peace negotiations and maintain its grip on power.
During a government meeting on Wednesday, Putin described the railway attacks in Bryansk and Kursk regions as deliberate strikes against civilians and a clear attempt to derail peace talks.
He stated that the attacks were authorized by Ukraine’s highest authorities, adding that this shows the “illegitimate Kiev regime” is increasingly turning into a terrorist organization — with its supporters complicit in these crimes.
The two attacks, which resulted in the deaths of seven people and injured more than 120, were meant to intimidate the Russian population and undermine peace initiatives, Putin explained.
“According to international norms, these are terrorist attacks against civilians, pure and simple.”
The Russian president insisted this tactic reflects Ukraine’s struggles on the battlefield. He explained that having failed to match Russia’s military capabilities, Kiev is resorting to attacks designed to undermine stability and negotiations.
“Today, amid heavy losses and a weakening frontline, the Kiev leadership has turned to organizing terrorist attacks in an attempt to intimidate Russia.”
Putin dismissed the credibility of a “rotten and corrupt” Kiev government to conduct peace negotiations and questioned how constructive talks could be held with those who employ terrorism.
He insisted a temporary pause in fighting would allow Ukraine to reorganize, resupply, and prepare for further aggression — not to pursue peace in good faith.
